The Grimsby Town Centre Forum is a company limited by guarantee and is open to all businesses and organisations that operate within a defined geographical area, that is the Town Centre, and to those organisations who have an interest in, or can contribute to, the Forum’s Aims and Objectives.
The management of town and city centres is the management of change. By definition, town centres are focal points for commercial, cultural and social life and continual change is an inevitable and necessary indication of successful centres.
Successful centres do not however occur by accident or overnight. Town Centre Management is seen as the key driver in ensuring change is successfully managed by creating a partnership of shared resources and ideas and a commitment that unites and benefits all stakeholders.
In North East Lincolnshire much of that change is already identified in the planning contained within the area’s ‘Community Strategy’ and particularly in the emerging ‘Urban Renaissance’ plans. Whilst these are not the only drivers of change they form the principle framework in which the Forum fits.
In order to ensure the challenges that change will bring are to be met, this Forum of public/private and voluntary sector businesses and organisations has been formed. It is only through partnership working that those who have interests in seeing successful town centres can also feel a sense of involvement in the decision making and implementation of plans that affect them.
This Forum therefore is seen as a key player and seeks:
- To act as a ‘voice’ to shape and influence town centre management regeneration initiatives within the town centre area.
- To bring together stakeholders in partnership to ensure all interested parties are aware of issues that affect the Town Centre.
- To improve partnership arrangements
